SADLBA – 21ST MARCH

The last Indoor match of the 2025/2026 season was against our sister organisation, St Albans and District Ladies Bowling Association (SADLBA) on Saturday 21st March held at Harpenden Indoor Bowling Club. As usual this was a great match in a friendly and competitive spirit with the bonus of a good in for SADBA. Our thanks go espcially to Harpenden IBC for hosting it and their support. LONDON SCOTTISH – 28TH FEBRUARY

PRESIDENT’S INVITATION MATCH

The President’s Invitation Match was held this year on Sunday 19th January at the Hatfield Bowls Club, once again fielding a District Team against the 2025 winners of the Bob Vise Trophy (Potters Bar), Jones Cup (Welwyn Garden City), Triples League (Hatfield) and Club Rink League (Harpenden).

It was a great afternoon played with great sportsmanship and camerdarie as many familiar faces came together to compete for the prestigious Shield. The District won on only one rink (23-10). The winning rink with the biggest shot difference of 31-6 was Potters Bar who duly took home the Shield and a plaque to keep in the Club.

The 2026 schedule of all the Competitions (Singles, Pairs, Triples, 2-Wood Triples, Fours, Mixed Fours, Officers Singles and Champion of Champions) and League Matches (Bob Vise Trophy, Triples League, Jones Cup and Club Rink League) are now available on-line and can be found from the drop-down menu under the COMPETITIONS and LEAGUES tabs.

SADBA FINALS FINALS 2025

SADBA FINALS 2025

The 2025 Finals matches were held on the 25th August and 5th and 6th September 2025 at Potters Bar Bowls Club.

The Bob Vise Trophy was held Monday 25th August at 10.00 am. This year the teams were Townsend versus Potters Bar, with Potters Bar taking the trophy. See short report at “Bob Vise” Trophy 2025 – St Albans & District Bowling Association

The Jones Cup was between Welwyn Garden City and Batchwood on Friday 5th September starting at 5.00 pm. On a warm evening and excellent green the honours were taken by Welwyn Garden City.

Finals Day saw the Finals of the Triples League and all other individual and team competitions will be help on Saturday 6th September. Matches started at 9.00 am and ran through on a comfortably warm and breezy day. As always bowling and cameraderie was excellent and a special thanks go to Potters Bar for their hospitality.

COMPETITIONS and LEAGUES 2025

The draw for all the Competitions and Inter-Club League matches, together with the programme of play by dates, is now available on-line under the COMPETITIONS and LEAGUES tabs.

The COMPETITIONS drop-down menu gives access to the Singles, Champion of Champions, Officers Singles, Triples, 2-Wood Triples, Fours and Mixed Fours plus links to download the Closing Dates of Rounds and a list of a Competition Contacts. The LEAGUES menu covers the Bob Vise Trophy, Jones Cup, Triples League, Club Rink League and a download for Playing Dates.

Telephone numbers of all of the Fixture Secretaries and contacts for Inter-Club League matches and Competitions will be published in the 2025 SADBA handbook to be issued in April through Club Delegates.

The last indoor match is the winter series was on Saturday 22nd March at Harpenden IBC against our sister organisation SADBA. It proved a lovely occasion and one not to be missed and with a comfortable win for the District. A fitting end to the winter indoor season. The President’s Invitation Match was held on Sunday 19th January at Hatfield Indoor Bowls Club at 14.30 against invited teams from:

- Welwyn Garden City (Winners of Triples League)
- Welwyn & District (Winners of Jones Cup )
- Harpenden BC (Winners of Bob Vise)
- Hemel Hempstead (Winners of Club Rink League.

I am sorry to say that the match against Herts IBC planned for Wednesday 8th January has been cancelled. Our next match is the President’s Invitation Match at Hatfield IBC on 19th January.

Our 2nd indoor match is to celebrate 100 years of the Hatfield Bowls Club. The match was be played at their Club on Sunday 27th October. It was a great match and a strong win for Hatfield. The Match Report is here:

Our second indoor match is at Hatfield Bowls Club on 27th October. This is to celebrate the Hatfield Bowls Club Centenary.
